The Arts School was set up in 2016 with the aim to provide art classes for adults and families. My background teaching post 16 and adults since 2004 means I have a wealth of knowledge and skills to support you to bring creativity into you life, to develop you own artwork, and to love drawing like when you were a child.
I work with businesses to explore art for wellbeing and productivity as well as individuals and groups. In this busy word, stopping and taking a breath is vital.
REGULAR CLASSES:
4 week Observational Drawing course
WHAT: Each week we explore drawing from still life through a series ot tutor lead short exercises and a sustained drawing.
WHERE: Ribs and Co, Hailsham.
WHEN: Wednesday mornings 10:30-12:30
Next course start dates (followed by the next 4 weeks): June 5th.
COST: £50 including basic materials and tea/coffee and biscuit!

Full-Day Drawing Workshop & Lunch at Off the Line Vineyard.
WHAT: Please join me for an inspiring one-day workshop at the beautiful Off the Line Vineyard, including lunch from The Big Pig, desert from A Thyme of All Occasions and glass of wine from the vines.
We will have chairs, easels and boards set up in the vineyard, (weather-dependant – maybe under gazebos!) and all materials will be included – you are welcome to bring any of your own should you wish.
The morning will be structured around a series of short exercises to explore and understand the landscape. In the afternoon we will be doing a long drawing or painting of your choice with tutor Sophie Douglas supporting you when you need it.
LUNCH: pulled-pork or vegan burger with salads will be provided by The Big Pig, with wine or soft drinks provided by Off the Line and they will do a talk on how they produce their fantastic wines! Desert will be provided by local catering company A Thyme for all Occasions.
Please let us know your dietary requirements on booking and in advance as all food is prepared specifically for our event.

Monthly Art Challenge
This months Monthly Art Challenge is SKY – and we have some amazing places in East Sussex to see the sky in all its cloudy glory!
Missed this months challenge? Here are the details!
WHAT: For the month of May we are looking up. Looking at where the earth meets the sky, the cloud, the expanse, and movement of the sky, be it day or night.
Think Turner, look at photographers, explore working with paint or inks.
TASK: Colour match: try to replicate the colour of the sky.
What is up there? Look at the bird, planes, stars and clouds.
Where does the earth meet the sky? Think horizons; and exploring continuous line drawing.
